It should already work. However, your motherboard only supports configurations of 1 x16 or 2 x8. So it would divide your maximum theoretical performance of the graphics card into two. In the real world, the difference is not half (varies depending on the graphics card (estimate a loss of 10-20%)). If you don't want this and are planning to upgrade your CPU/motherboard soon anyway, I recommend looking for a motherboard with built-in m.2 support. This would be even faster and would not affect the graphics card.
