What is the print quality like for photo printing?
The GX6050's strengths are clearly in classic document printing, where the results and the price/performance ratio are very good. It performs graphics tasks well, but the colours are rather dull. It is certainly sufficient for office or home office use. Pure photo printing on photo paper is possible, but the printer cannot compete with (sometimes much cheaper) cartridge printers in terms of colour brilliance and resolution. In addition to the rather flat colour reproduction, there is a noticeable "pixelation". This device also does not support borderless printing. Thanks to the ink tank system, however, the prints are unrivalled in price. Conclusion: If you print photos on the side and don't expect high quality, the GX6050 delivers very good results. If you want good to very good photo prints, you should use a cartridge printer or an ink tank device with 6 separate ink tanks specially designed for photos.
From time to time I make photo prints on Canon paper SG-201 or GP-501. These prints meet my (normal) requirements. The printer has a total of 5 different sub-settings (media = papers) in its settings under "Photo printing". Equally important, however, is how the photo file is prepared and processed. As is so often the case, there is no getting around "testing". The Canon Maxify is an excellent device and replaced a Kyocera M2640 (mono) and a Kyocera M5526 (colour), both multi-function printers, big and heavy! Although I haven't used inkjet printers for years (due to drying out and clogged lines), I decided to buy the GX7050. After almost 4100 prints, the device convinces me every day. The life span of the consumables is also interesting: black - I mainly print a lot of text and therefore black - has reached approx. 25% residue. The colour inks all still have around 70% remaining capacity and the maintenance cartridge is at 50%. I am very satisfied with this!
We use the device exclusively in the office area, i.e. no photo printing. It is very suitable for our use, we do not need the printer every day, but when it is in use, we scan and print relatively intensively. Here the thing does an excellent job!
never tried it, sorry, but otherwise it's a great device and I'm very happy with it, especially the scan function (also double-sided).
