Designed for up to 12 VoIP participants in the basic configuration, it can accommodate up to 50 participants, including external extensions, thanks to its fully modular architecture, all of whom have access to the full range of functions of a "large" ITK server. Nevertheless, analog and ISDN modules are seamlessly integrated as gateways for existing phones as well as cordless DECT systems. Setting up the VoIP trunks is a breeze with available templates for various providers, and FXO and BRI connections for "classic" trunk access can be easily retrofitted via plug-in modules. This flexible IP system is ahead of its time, as it already includes the upcoming network standard IPv6. The "Blue Angel" certification also indicates a strong commitment to sustainability.

As a VoIP appliance, it is simply ideal. The setup of SIP trunks is incredibly straightforward with downloadable and thus up-to-date provider templates. A special feature of the COMpact 5500R is the retrofittable Ethernet port on the front of the housing, allowing for a sensible separation of telephony and data.
