Cutting heavy media or high usage can blunt the blade on your machine's rotary cutter, leaving a scruffy edge on your prints. Turning the cutter off on the printer display panel when printing on very heavy media, such as vinyl, will prolong the life of the blade. This genuine Canon part is easily replaced by the end user.
