Optical Image Stabilizer
To ensure your images are always razor sharp, the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM uses Canon's Image Stabilizer technology. This allows up to 3.5-step longer exposures than would normally be possible from the hand, without the risk of camera shake - ideal in low light or at high zoom settings. Pan Detection disables the Image Stabilizer when the camera pans horizontally or vertically, so moving subjects can be easily tracked with the camera.
STM Technology
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM uses a Stepping Motor (STM) to provide continuous, quiet focus when shooting video with the EOS, or fast, accurate AF when shooting still images. STM focusing is so quiet that the camera's internal microphone does not pick up any noise that would interfere with the audio during video shooting.

Mit 55 Millimeter Anfangsbrennweite schließt es direkt an den Zoombereich von Canons Standard-Kit-Objektiv für APS-C-Kameras an. Im Test zeigt es eine weniger gute Bildstabilisierung als die beiden 70-300er.
