The VAX01301 is an HDMI audio extractor that outputs sound from an HDMI signal either wirelessly via Bluetooth or through RCA (analog) and SPDIF Toslink (digital). If the TV has HDMI-ARC or HDMI-eARC, the VAX01301 can use this connection to output the internal TV sound from apps and receivers. The TV's audio format must be set to PCM Stereo, as Bluetooth does not support 5.1 audio formats. It can also deliver sound from a source device like Fire TV or Apple TV connected to the HDMI input. The VAX01301 supports video resolutions up to 4K 60Hz HDR or Dolby Vision and offers the option to output stereo or 5.1 sound (via SPDIF Toslink). Simultaneous use of wireless audio and audio through RCA/SPDIF outputs is not possible. The audio format can be set to Stereo or Advanced (for all audio formats) using the selector switch. The VAX01301 requires a USB power supply and allows volume control on the connected sound device. Note that higher audio formats can only be passed through via HDMI and cannot be extracted. Volume control is also done on the sound system, not on the TV or player.
