Has anyone else had a bad experience with the lifespan of this unit, or did I simply get a unit that was made in a factory?

Does anyone know of an alternative to the Dymo embosser? One with the same look of the labelling tapes? I find it very unnecessary to order a new device every few months when it breaks.

With my Dymo, it does not pull the ribbon cleanly. The result: letters are embossed on top of each other. So far I have only been able to print one word cleanly - I must have had to throw away half a roll. Does anyone have the same problem? Do I have to pay special attention when inserting the roll?

How long is the tape that comes with it?

Unfortunately, your device embosses very poorly. Only very few characters are legible.
