You don't have to change the cables every time. I've been using the device for over a year and have never had to change anything. I once read that the thicker the cable, the better the quality of the sound (thicker cable -> less resistance -> less loss -> better sound).

Hello, Yes, you will be able to put more than 180 watts in a cable of this size, but I think they give 180 watts for a good quality sound. Beyond that, you will surely have some loss of quality. For more precision there is the email address of the manufacturer here: b2b@oehlbach.de Link to their website: https://b2b.oehlbach.com/account/login?redirectTo=frontend.home.page&redirectParameters=%5B%5D&accessDenied=1 Sincerely

I would not recommend modifying (assembling) the cable yourself, as they are very sensitive. We offer different cable lengths, but we also have much shorter speaker cables, for example, in lengths from 2 to 5 m, here are some examples: 2m: Oehlbach Bi-Tech 4 (2 m) 3m : Oehlbach Bi-Tech 4 (3 m) 5m : Oehlbach Bi-Tech 4 (5 m)

A thicker cable is probably needed (even if the 1800 watts are probably peak and not RMS): https://www.digitec.ch/de/Comparison/3485116-3511159-6231162

What is the diameter of the plug?

Hello. It is the standard diameter for speaker inputs. Fits e.g. a Pioneer reciver. Or to a Devialet amplifier. Unfortunately I don't know the mass. Mfg.
