Difficult to answer. It depends on the TV, in my opinion. It would probably be more a question for the TV manufacturer as to which peripherals can be used on the USB port. Otherwise, just try it out.
On the USB 3.0, it feels as fast as with the internal SD card reader of the Thinkpad X260. microSD not tested. The footprint of the reader is unfortunately so large that the USB sockets next to it are not usable.
