As far as I know, this is a normal external hard drive that is "optimised for the recording function of TVs". Whatever that means exactly (quiet, suitable for 24/7 operation, ...). So you can use the hard drive for the recording function of the TV, if it supports that. If your TV can record Netflix, it will also work with it.
