ASUS Sbw-06d2x-U
Blu-ray drive
Quality is ok, the device works well. Requires two USB connectors (data and power) and the connection cable is quite short. For front USB connections but tip top.
Does not work yet, unfortunately, because the device has only old-fashioned USB 2.0 ports. My HP Omen laptop, on the other hand, unfortunately only has USB 3.0 ports. Although I would have expected it to work with backwards compatibility.... there seems to be a hitch here. It's probably the ASUS SBW-06D2X-U, because I can connect other USB 2.0 devices to the HP laptop without any problems...Conclusion...currently unusable

Loud and vibrating
For the operation of Blu-ray I had to reorder an additional cable / transition piece

It's not perfect for carrying in a laptop bag as it's not solid. I had the lid fall off, but was able to put it back on with no problems. It still works perfectly, even though it is very rarely in use. Who needs CD, DVD & Co. today? But for emergencies ideal and quickly connected to any laptop.
Works according to our simple expectations

Asus Blu-ray player: a feast for the eyes in terms of design! Its performance is sufficient but the additional equipment is lousy. USB 2.0 connection, that's not enough in this day and age. In addition, it would be great to have a proper software to play Blu-ray movies. The player does not cost the earth but there are definitely better.
Runs flawlessly on Mac and Win10.
Compact, light and especially fast to read. Writing not yet tried.
I received the goods very quickly and I am very satisfied with the product
The product is very well made and it works. It even looks very nice when placed correctly

Difficulty reading bluray, without specific player impossible
It is not normal for a brd product not to include the decoding programme
Good compact drive/writer.

Efficient and effective external drive

The hardware is good, no complaints.
However, it is weak that the included software does not include a Blu-ray player. The included Power2Go software is certainly not bad, but I can't play a Blu-ray film with it. Fortunately, there is freeware that can be found on the Internet (but you have to search for it first, of course).
The software package that comes with the ASUS Turbo Engine is even worse. There is no indication anywhere of what this software is supposed to be good for. It can be installed and started - but for what?
For this purpose, a software ASUS Mulitframe is installed. Same thing here: no idea what it's for???
Conclusion: Hardware good - software unusable.

It's simply an external drive. So my expectation these days is: don't read a manual, plug it in and it works. The reality was: I didn't read a manual, I plugged it in and it worked. So: Top

this is a top player! flawless!
suddenly stopped working.
I'll have to see if I can find a better USB 3 connection (with more power as described in the PC tip).
I use this burner via an externally powered USB 3.0 hub on my Surface Pro 3 and it works perfectly (unfortunately not without an external power supply). Whether burning data discs or watching a film. All no problem if you have enough sockets nearby, or a power strip ;-).
I have not yet been able to test whether the power supply also works via only one or two USB slots without external power supply.
Pro
For me, connecting a USB plug is sufficient for operation.
Pro
Works flawlessly on my Macs.

The product works on Mac. However, for the use of the Blue Ray CDs on Mac, it is missing that additional programmes are required for this.
Pro
Everything works fine, the usual good ASUS quality at a great price.
