Samsung Bd-H6500
Samsung Bd-H6500
Beware, this is indeed the Samsung Smart Hub!
Notice to PLEX users: Works perfectly!
This model has Wi-Fi (wps ok with Swisscom InternetBox), Toslink audio output, 4K upscaling. Nice finish, very fast start-up, not noisy.
I have not tested the BD-H5900, but the BD-H5500 does not have a Samsung portal (Opera-TV)
the higher range offers wi-fi and Toslink sound output.
So in my opinion there is no reason to prefer the BD-F6500 for the insignificant price difference.

Easy to install, child's play to operate, multimedia oriented towards network streaming. Great device at a reasonable price! I am extremely satisfied!

After one year of use, I give the following rating:
Easy and intuitive to use. Razor-sharp images. This is extremely convincing. All the rest, unfortunately, not at all.
BD operation is very, very loud. That doesn't bother me, because I mainly want to use apps. But they run extremely unstable. Netflix and Zattoo regularly lose connection because it suddenly loses the internet via WLAN and searches for a cable connection that is not even installed.
I called Netflix. Support immediately asked me the question: "You use, Samsung, huh? Unfortunately, that's normal. A tip: switch to Sony. Unfortunately, replacing the device won't solve it."
Samsung's solution: reset the device to factory settings. I now do this every evening. The device is unusable despite the warranty and the latest firmware.
Netflix is right. What the Samsung can't do, the Sony BDP-S6700 does brilliantly, without being noticeably more expensive.

I am very satisfied with the Samsung BD-H6500 player. Quality and design are convincing. Great for people who own a Samsung TV because you only need one remote control.

Good device, simple commissioning and installation. Price/performance io.
Pro
Quick to set up, easy to use.
The remote control also controls my Samsung SmartTV, so I need one less.
The apps (NetFlix, Hollystar, etc.) run reasonably smoothly, except on Saturday evenings, for example, when you have to wait a few seconds to scroll through the films (but that doesn't depend on the BlueRay player). Steam is then ok.
The buttons on the top of the device are not quite optimal. Firstly, you can't put anything on them, and secondly, who needs buttons on the device?
3D also works great.

All in all, an excellent Bluray player! Upscaling looks great and the player is Netflix-ready.

I wanted a 3D Bluray player from Samsung (to go with the TV), in my opinion the best model at the moment.
Unfortunately, the player is very loud when playing, especially at the beginning when it is loading the content of the disc.
Of course, the furniture in which the player is placed adds to the problem.
I rarely watch bluray's directly as I have them on my NAS and then stream, otherwise the player would go back!
I prefer to leave the 4k upscaling to my TV....

A bargain with excellent features. Apps like Netflix can be installed. Flawless. Together with Zattoo, you can now also do without the TV connections - as long as you connect to the provider via WLAN or cable.
The initially high performance power resulted in short loading times. But this decreases noticeably over time. After 3 months, the performance has dropped sharply: Remote control input is delayed by several seconds. Sometimes the WLAN is only accessible after a minute. However, restarting the device and resetting it to factory settings does not help. Samsung's response: "It can happen from time to time that components fail - in my case, for example, a few processor transistors. The device is not built to last forever.

So far, it does what it is supposed to do, namely play BDs, also in 3D. Extensive smart hub functions (similar to current Samsung TVs).

Does what it is supposed to do.
Super device.

I must have received a Monday model. Not a single bluray was recognised (approx. 25 tested from older to newest like Hobbit 2 etc.).
Therefore 3 stars, as 1 is a bit crass for a bad model and I am otherwise satisfied with Samsung.
Basically a good device. However, Samsung's support is miserable. The email contact was rejected three times after I had to enter all the details three times repeatedly. Each time it failed because of the four characters you have to enter at the end. Somehow you can't shake the impression that Samsung doesn't want to provide support. So then via telephone. The support there was very nice. He gave me an email address where I could send my request. However, the answer was sobering. They tried to shift the problem to everyone in the network. Although I mentioned that other devices with the same function have no problems. And now finally my problem: The media player of the Bluray player is not able to play music albums stored on the NAS (network disk) in the correct order, even though the Windows sorting and the ID3 tags are correct. This is a pity, because with audio books or operas it is most unpleasant if the order is not correct. Otherwise, the device works absolutely reliably.
It is a very good product and has many possibilities.
Pro
Soldier BluRay player without big bells and whistles. Absolutely recommendable for normal use. However, if you want to play more films via USB, you won't be happy with this device, as the audio & video formats are very limited.

A super device, I can only recommend it
I use the player mainly as a CD player (thanks to the buttons, even without the TV switched on!) and to play videos from USB sticks and Netflix. Everything works fine.
I am 100% satisfied with this product.

Top price/performance!
A very good choice in terms of price and performance.

I don't expect more for this price...
the mediaplayer function is handy, no problem to connect to a NAS and play the content (audio, photo and video)

I use the player mainly to watch Netflix on an older Sony HD TV - works perfectly.
The Sony TV turns on automatically when the player (connected via HDMI cable) is switched on. Unfortunately, it does not turn off.
I no longer need the other options since Anno-Netflix.... so I can't give it a rating.
