the a58 replaces the a55 for me, and has to hold its own next to the a77. it can't do that in terms of speed, but it doesn't have to take a back seat in terms of quality.
(not even against the 5s and 3s nikons and not with the 5/6/700D canons either:

), and from iso 800 onwards it is even ahead! what i like is that it has, besides a lot of knick-knack programs (SCN mode), also useful ones (panning panorama, HDR) and above all that it shoots exposure bracketing (3 pictures up to plus/minus 3 exposure stops) (the small a55 doesn't do that and neither does the big a65!). and apart from the 7000 nikons, the smaller 5s and 3s can't do it either, shame, canon can). battery life is very good, was weak with the a55.
using this cam with the kit lens is almost like throwing pearls before swine, but you will get usable pictures in any case (by the way, all SLRs and SLTs do this nowadays, only in low light does the wheat separate from the chaff), and if you own and use an SLR/SLT, you will sooner or later buy one or the other lens to go with it anyway (here I recommend the following):

EVF is a matter of taste, I like it (I used to have nikon), and thanks to SLT technology I can see everything in live view, including current exposure settings (very useful in manual mode).
Absolutely recommended!
Super image quality. Perfect for the demanding hobby photographer and for holiday photos.
I am a hobby photographer and have owned this camera for a year. I have already taken many photos and only a few of them were not as good as I expected. I have stood on the Gotthard line of the SBB several times in winter at sub-zero temperatures and the battery has lasted a day without a problem.
The operation is also very easy to understand and the suggestions are explained on the LCD monitor when setting the mode selector.
I think this camera is great for the price/performance ratio and will certainly enjoy using it for a long time to come.
I used to have a Sony a350 SLR camera, but it takes some getting used to with the translucent mirror.
The operation of the camera is very versatile and you still don't have everything quickly under control. The pictures are very good and even when viewed on a TV (120cm) there are no complaints.

Super part, is constantly in use and the recordings always get better
Overall good camera for beginners. Image in the viewfinder and on the camera screen does not correspond to the image that is later displayed on the PC (especially brightness).
