SteelSeries Aerox 5
Wireless
-Short summary-
The Aerox 5 convinces me in all important points such as features, ergonomics and design. It has enough (freely assignable) buttons, freely selectable DPI settings with 5 changeable levels, fits comfortably in the hand with its size and is equipped with appealing LED lighting.
-Features-
The Aerox 5 has 9 buttons. Two of these are for the left and right mouse buttons, one for the scroll wheel, another functions as a DPI switch and 5 more buttons for various functions (such as forward/back in the browser). All 9 buttons can be easily reassigned or equipped with macros via the SteelSeries Engine.
-Ergonomics-
The resistance when clicking is pleasant, all keys give good haptic feedback. Only the (standard) forward/backward keys are unfamiliar at first, as they yield upwards at an angle. The only criticism here would be the long distance of the ninth key. Either it feels too far away, or the forward/back button too close to the thumb. The mouse is very light, which takes some getting used to at first, but is pleasant after a while.
-Design-
In my opinion, the mouse is attractively designed. The grid design is a fresh sight, and it also helps to prevent sweaty hands. The LEDs are sufficiently bright and can be freely controlled via the configuration programme. They irritated me at first because they like to shine out from between my fingers, but they also present the mouse very well.
-Conclusion-
If you're looking for a lightweight mouse that offers freely configurable buttons including a macro editor, is comfortable to hold and enhances or complements your PC setup with its eye-catching design and LED lighting, the Aerox 5 is the perfect choice. Compared to my previous mouse, I was particularly struck by the good configuration programme, which recognises the mouse immediately, installs the latest firmware and is home to many functions. A clear buy recommendation from me.

At first I was sceptical as to whether I would be able to cope with the lightweight mouse. And yes, I'm delighted. Super precise, crisp buttons and feels really good in the hand. After many different mice, this is the best I've ever held in my hand.

My husband and I were allowed to test the mouse as part of a product test and are very positively surprised!
It feels great in the hand, is very light and above all the design has convinced us very much! The colour of the mouse changes depending on the settings. We have tested it on the desk wood as well as on a mouse pad and it is super easy to guide! We are passionate gamers and can absolutely recommend it 😊 The price is reasonable for a gaming mouse, although a bit expensive. We give a buy recommendation 😊

I find the gridded surface particularly cool, because it also prevents you from sweating when gaming or working for long periods of time, as it is well ventilated.
The mouse can be connected to my HP Envy via Bluetooth, but also with the included dongle. The laptop recognised it immediately and it was ready to use.
You can customise and programme it according to your needs.
Even though there are certainly cheaper gaming mice out there, the Aerox 5 has convinced me in all points so far and I am happy to recommend it.

The mouse is super fast and light. We tried it out as part of a product test and are thrilled. While I tested it on a "normal" scale (home office), my husband used it as a gaming mouse. He was fascinated by the almost infinite setting options and the battery life. The only thing he found annoying was the weight, which he thought was too low. I, on the other hand, thought it was good because I could take the wireless and lightweight mouse with me everywhere and was not tied to the notebook.
Response time is top and in general this is a high-quality product.

Software is required to change the lighting. The part of the software that controls the lighting only recognises the mouse via wireless connection, not via Bluetooth or USB. The software is also extremely bloated and awkward to use. Actually a good mouse but bad software.
Update: The software apparently pretends to be part of the Windows operating system. Updates from SteelSeriesGG are listed as mandatory "Windows Update" in the settings. Windows can no longer be restarted without updating SteelSeriesGG at the same time.
I have uninstalled the software again, but unfortunately the mouse lights up in all the colours of the rainbow. I don't understand what this rainbow lighting is supposed to be good for. distracting and looks bad. Really rubbish.

I've been using this mouse on a daily basis for three months now, and here's my feedback. For day-to-day use, it does what it's supposed to: it feels good in the hand and works well in most situations. However, when it comes to video games, particularly competitive games such as FPS, it quickly shows its limitations.
As for the 180-hour battery life, this seems somewhat exaggerated. In my experience, it's more like 70 hours (AT THE GREATEST MAXIMUM), which is still decent but far from the manufacturer's promises.
The main problem, however, is the behaviour of the cursor: it sometimes 'jumps' randomly, suddenly moving up, left or right. Although not constant, this happens several times a day, which quickly becomes frustrating, especially when playing games.
To sum up, I'd recommend this mouse for everyday use or for playing single-user games. However, I wouldn't recommend it for competitive games where precision is essential.

The mouse is really brilliant, but after less than 6 months the mouse wheel has gone. something only happens every 3-4 ticks. Sometimes it even jumps backwards when I scroll upwards. Too bad, it was a great mouse until then

Finally, a gaming mouse that you can also work with. I've been using the Steelseries Aerox 5 for a week now and I'm absolutely thrilled. You could tell from the packaging that this is a high-quality gaming mouse. After unpacking it, I just thought "Wow"! The mouse is super light and beautifully made. After connecting the mouse with the very high-quality, included braided USB C cable, I was absolutely thrilled by the beautiful RGB lighting, which can of course also be adjusted via the software that you can download from the manufacturer. There you can also set up the buttons according to your own wishes. Now for the handling: it fits perfectly in my large hand and glides effortlessly over my mouse pad. If anyone is worried about liquids, as the housing is very open, don't panic, the Aerox 5 is waterproof to IP54. This mouse gets my recommendation

This gaming mouse is really good, because it's really nice and light, everything is super easy to do and it's a lot of fun to work or play with it. Then I think it's really good that I can simply choose myself which lighting I want. And then there's the fact that you can assign the keys as you need them. But many other things can also be set via the app (software). Then there's the chic design, which rounds everything off. I can only recommend it.

The Aerox 5 Gaming mouse is very precise. You have the feeling that you are controlling directly with your hand because the mouse is hardly noticeable due to its light weight. It also has a cool design. One star is deducted for the fact that the third button is difficult to reach with the thumb if you have shorter fingers. All in all, however, it's a very good mouse that makes gaming fun.

The overall package of the mouse is convincing. It is very light and can be gripped well depending on the position of the hand. I mainly use the claw grip and have relatively small hands, so it is a little too big. The open top makes for less sweaty hands. I would rather not try out whether the advertised water protection works. The keys are all within easy reach, except for the one left side key. There is more than enough room for cabling, as a 2m braided USB-C cable is included. What is annoying is the software, which is relatively large and powerful, but the light settings are not self-explanatory. Without the software, however, the bright RGB rainbow light cannot be switched. In addition, the settings are saved on the computer, not on the mouse. Therefore, you always have the rainbow in front of you on another computer. Basically, I would recommend the mouse because of its high precision and mostly good handling.

The mouse comes in a beautiful attractive packaging. As always, it comes with instructions, the mouse itself and a detachable Super Mesh USB-C cable which is very robust and durable.
Due to the open design, it will certainly be very susceptible to liquids, but according to the manufacturer, it is IP54 water, dust and dirt resistant.
Since I don't put any drinks on the PC table, I don't care about this small negative point.
The mouse lies well in the hand due to its weight and you can hardly feel it when playing.
No matter if shooter, strategy or just point and click, excellent precision due to the low weight is guaranteed.
Of course, the 9 programmable buttons should not be forgotten. These can be reassigned as desired.
The lighting can be changed as desired in the SteelSeries in-house software. Programming for individual games such as League of Legends or World of Warcraft is also child's play. For example, you can tell when the next dragon will appear in League of Legends by the colour.
For me, all in all, a super pleasant mouse with a lot of small subtleties that make it even more exciting to use, which makes it a clear buy recommendation for me.

-Unboxing/ Design-
Packaging and accessories kept relatively slim; aerox 5 mouse,
USB-C to USB-A super mesh cable (2m), small Manual
The mouse felt very light and solidly processed when you first took it out. Optically I find them very chic; RGB lighting also comes into its own.
-Construction/ Handling-
As already noticed when unpacking, the mouse feels really high-quality processed. As if the mouse weighs almost nothing, it glides incredibly well on the mouse pad. At the same time, it also manages to stop precisely at a desired position.
The keys are very pleasant to press and provide tactile feedback. The position of the side buttons takes some getting used to, but in my opinion well located. Above all, you don't accidentally reach the DPI button.
As a longtime advocate of wireless mice, I have to admit that this variant doesn't feel wired. The cable is incredibly light and supple, so with a mouse bungee I hardly notice any difference to my Corsair Ironclaw Wireless.
-Comparison-
In direct comparison to my Ironclaw I am thrilled. With my large hands in the light claw grip, the Aerox feels great in my hand. The material surfaces feel good and you don't feel like you're sweating as much. In particular, I'm relieved not to be gripping the side rubber coating, which crumbles off after a while and collects all the dirt.
Compared to other lightweight mice (I have already tested: Glorious Model D, Logitech G Pro X Superlight, CoolerMaster M710), the Aerox also does well in terms of workmanship, design and handling.
-Conclusion-
So far the best mouse I've had. Now I would be interested in the wireless variant, to simply have less cabling on the table :)

Good gaming mouse for the computer. It is very lightweight, barely noticeable. It looks modern and cool. It has useful programmable buttons. It has good click latency. Unfortunately, it lacks a good grip, which is its biggest downside so far. The fact that the mouse's micro scheme is completely exposed suggests that it could be damaged if water is spilled, making it less practical.

Well... the mouse is very good, but at a plastic on the left and right click, and on the sides of the shell that slide to death, it's unplayable on a multi fps, your mouse will not fit in your hand without sliding, for my part, I had to put some universal razer grip strips.

On the whole, the mouse is great. The engine is, as always, very clear and easy to understand. The mouse is light and fits my hand very well. It glides super on the Roccat mouse mat.
However, the battery life never comes close to 180 hours. I have to charge it after about 2 to 3 days, which is 3 x 24 hours according to my calculation! However, the PC doesn't even run overnight ;)
You can work out for yourself how long the battery lasts.
I have an EXTREMELY big problem. I play shooter and not even that bad ;) Every now and then the left mouse button gets stuck after I press it. Exactly when I am in Fight. When I notice it I have to pull the mouse button back to release it. During this time I get shot to death. This frustrates me extremely most of the time.
Otherwise. Great mouse
Addendum: Unfortunately, the mouse wheel is now spinning. It hacks back and forth when scrolling. It no longer scrolls in one direction. Otherwise I have had no other problems so far

The SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless arrives well packed with all the necessary accessories.
I personally wouldn't call it "ultra light", but it's definitely lighter than my previous mouse and just right for my needs.
PC connection works smoothly with Bluetooth and also via 2.4GHz. Battery life is absolutely sufficient for my requirements. The open design (due to the weight) makes the RGB lighting look a bit "cheap".

The mouse fits well in the hand and works perfectly for hours. However, it's a little too light for me to gamble all the time. What is pleasant is that you get less sweaty hands due to the grid. I found the colour change super nice. Battery performance is also not to complain.

Haptic, well stable and valuable.
Packaging, appropriate for the price range.
Software from the naming and the placement on the website already unfavourable was the first mouse where I had to look up in the manual which software I have to load to be able to configure the options of the mouse.
Optics, looks like a very light mouse, but in the end it is rather heavy in the weight range for an "ultra light" mouse. The RGB light inside also looks cheap and does not create a good effect. The look inside with the half-visible circuit board is also rather poor.
The performance of the mouse sensor is okay, as are the mouse buttons. Due to the high weight, the mouse is not suitable for competitive gaming.
The size of the mouse is far too large, even with large hands it is hardly possible to get a decent grip. There is no in-hand movement to make micro-corrections - the mouse immediately hits the palm of the hand. For really serious gaming a no go and also completely contrary to what is used in gaming rather small mice.
In general, the mouse has a problem for me - it wants to be something based on the look and the advertising copy, which it absolutely is not. From the look and advertising, I expect a real gaming mouse. But I get more of a bling bling block with exaggeratedly said the felt "double" weight of a light mouse.
Conclusion as a gamer, the mouse is too heavy and has unnecessary nonsense like RGB light and countless buttons built in.
As a casual PC user, the look is not convincing if it is only about the look, there are far nicer concepts.
In other words, the mouse is not really the ideal for anyone, so for me it's a totally wrong concept. I would rather have a focus on either a really light! Gaming mouse in the 40-50 gram range or a nice desktop mouse without holes and with nice lighting and surface.

Two criteria are decisive for a purchase. Wireless and weight. The connection via Bluetooth is established quickly and without any problems. The connection also remains stable. The battery life is sufficient for me, but could be longer. On average it lasts 5 days. The mouse is very light and can be moved super fast. Perfect for my applications like action shooters. The mouse also cuts a good figure in the home office. Due to its ergonomics, the mouse lies balanced in the hand in all postures. This provides the greatest possible flexibility, especially for my various applications. In addition, the high precision of the mouse, which can be increased with just a few clicks, especially for me with the sluggish Palm posture, allows precise movements. The mouse's CPI value of 18,000 is very high. Too much for my applications. Whether individual button assignment, colour design or precision. The mouse leaves nothing to be desired and is stylish to boot. The mouse is very well made and basically offers everything for gaming. The price for the mouse is reasonable for what it offers.

The mouse feels good and can be controlled precisely. It is well suited for mobile use because it is pleasantly light and the connection to the PC works really well (with Bluetooth). Unfortunately, I had a problem with the dongle on my USB-C port. The connection simply broke off in between and could not be restored. I never had this problem with Bluetooth, the connection was stable and you could also use it in games precisely and without noticeable delay.
All in all, a good wireless mouse with good runtime and stable connection.
