The Interview PRO features a high-quality condenser capsule, typically with an omnidirectional pattern. The advantage: the microphone exhibits no proximity effect, meaning there is no marked boost in low frequencies when the microphone is close to the sound source. In practice, this means that the distance during recording can vary without drastically affecting the sound. As an “omni” microphone, it is sensitive to sound from all directions, so unlike a cardioid microphone, it does not always need to be perfectly aimed at the sound source – the Interview PRO is very forgiving if the interviewee moves their head.
