With the RX100 VII, Sony continues its award-winning RX camera series. Using technologies developed for Sony's mirrorless Alpha 9 full-frame camera, the RX100 VII offers the performance of a professional-class full-frame camera in the handy design of a compact camera. The heart of the new RX100 VII is the newly developed Exmor RS CMOS image sensor 1.01 and the latest generation BIONZ X image processor. This combination opens up a new dimension in autofocus performance and speed that was previously only found on the Alpha 9. Thanks to the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T zoom lens (24-200 mm2 F2.8-4.5) with powerful zoom, the RX100 VII is equally flexible and versatile for photo enthusiasts and professionals in all shooting scenarios. The RX100 VII is equipped with the world's leading3 357 AF phase detection points and 425 AF contrast detection points. In addition, with optimized lens drive control, it achieves the world's fastest AF speed3 of 0.02 seconds4. Significantly improved continuous AF/AE tracking performance5 enables up to 60 AF/AE calculations per second6 and captures fast-moving subjects at 20 frames per second7 - so you can capture every moment quickly and sharply. Unrestricted live views without blackouts8 are possible with the new image sensor even with continuous shooting at 20 frames per second - equivalent to the performance of the Alpha 9. In addition, the RX100 VII is equipped with a new single-frame continuous shooting mode9 that enables perfect high-speed shooting in JPEG/RAW format at up to 90 frames per second with an anti-distortion shutter10. The single-frame continuous shooting mode allows subjects to be captured in rapid motion like a single shot, but the camera takes seven different shots at 90, 60 or 30 frames per second, allowing the user to select the perfect image. The RX100 VII is the first compact camera with advanced real-time tracking and real-time eye autofocus. The latest algorithm from Sony with AI-based object recognition is used for real-time tracking. This ensures that motifs are always in focus, even when selecting motifs via touch operation on the display. The real-time eye AF is the latest version of Sony's eye autofocus technology, which also uses AI to capture the subject's eyes and process collected data. Thanks to optimized accuracy, speed and tracking performance of the eye AF in humans and animals, photographers can concentrate fully on image composition. The RX100 VII is so compact and lightweight (approx. 302 g/102 mm x 58 mm x 43 mm13) that it fits in any pocket and can also be used where other cameras are too large. Nevertheless, it offers a multitude of professional functions which are perfectly suited for filming on the go, for example for vlogging: Integrated 4K movie recording function with full pixel reading without pixel binning at high bit rate14 in XAVC S format.
