CCA refers to bi-metallic single and multi-core cables with a copper-clad aluminum core for higher frequency applications. The so-called skin effect or current displacement is a physical phenomenon caused by higher-frequency alternating currents. The current density inside the conductor becomes lower than that on the outer surface as the frequency increases. The inner cross-sectional area of a conductor through which a high-frequency alternating current flows assumes practically no transmission function. The CCA network cable thus represents a low-cost and weight-reduced alternative to conventional solid copper cables, offering equivalent performance and transmission characteristics.
