Question about Google Nest WiFi router and access point
Apologies for what may be a basic question and for not asking it in German, but I am wondering if this is compatible with fiber internet. I have Salt Fiber (whose router is objectively horrific, but a much much cheaper service than Swisscom....so it only just about justifies the change). I don't believe that Google Nest has a port through which I can connect the fibre cable, so I will have to use the Salt box as a "conduit" (don't know the technical name...but an access point that doesn't produce a wifi network) and plug the Nest into that via a LAN. My questions are - do you know if this is possible? Would you know if the Salt Box can be configured in this way?

Hi - yes it will work, the you just need to connect the Google Nest via a LAN cable to the Salt router.
Its not optimal - but it will work, I would advise turning all wifi configurations on the Salt router off.
If you can convince Salt to swap their router for a modem it would be the best solution - but no idea if they will do it.
The reason it is sub optimal is that you will run a through a double NAT, which in simple terms means you need to hop through 2 networks before you get to the internet. For normal web browsing - movie watching downloading etc. this is not a problem. But some more sophisticated services might not work or be degraded. Google support will also always blame the double NAT for every problem you have - even when its not related.

I have connected the Google Nest WiFi using a UPC modem. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with a Salt Box. Good luck!
Thank you for the answer. I was thinking this might be possible. I'll now need to enquire with my service provider to see if their box can be configured in such a way.
To my understanding (I have this Google nest in two locations), you need to use the service providers modem and then from that moden connect to the Google Nest Wifi router.
