Sometimes there are deals where you can get an ASUS Vivobook or even Zenbook for 500 to 800. I would recommend going for it. Make sure that the USB-C port is Thunderbolt-capable and the screen has 120 Hz (OLED), then you have a good device at a good price. The battery simply lasts much longer with OLED, but it doesn't have to.
