Can only the Tamron converters (TC-X14, TC-X20) be used with the "Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Canon", or is it also possible with other, cheaper converters?

I don't use a converter because the image quality is already limited, but it's a great lens.

I have now contacted Tamron. Their statement:

You can use our teleconverter 1.4x ( model TC-X14E) in combination with the Tamron lens SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 (model A022E).

The VC function (image stabiliser function) is always available.

Autofocus functions are normally given with any camera down to f/8 or less. Subjects with low contrast and/or brightness can sometimes cause misfocus.

Tamron has some out... but I wouldn't use a cheap one....
Either way, I wouldn't use a teleconverter with this lens... You have no more autofocus and the stabiliser can be smoked as well. 6.3 x 1.4 gives more than 8... and the AF is gone.
