can the LaCie Porsche hard drive also be used with Apple's USB-C to USB-C cable and connected to the new MacBook Pro as without an adapter?

yep, i also use the hard drive with my new macbook pro, works fine...
Yes, there are two cables included, one USB 3 (I think) and one USB-C.
It does not work with the USB3 Thunderbolt cable on my iMac 27 inch. I have to use the alternative cable included. I don't know why...
ask LaCie or Apple, but not me!
