Can these hard drives also be used for NAS, such as the Synology DS415+? It would be practical if that were possible. 2.5" fit in without any problems. The only question is whether they will work in the NAS. They are formatted as SHR

For use in a NAS, we recommend an 870 EVO for moderate write access or an 860 PRO for frequent write access due to the TBW values.

I have not tried this formatting and cannot answer the question.

However, it is generally advised not to use SSDs for long-term backups, but HDDs.
Magnetic storage is said to be better protected from external influences such as radiation.
