With respect, I consider this to be "cheating" the customer, or at least the business behaviour is questionable. If the item were labelled as OEM goods, it would at least be clear. Then the informed customer can decide. However, OEM items would still require a considerable discount. As a customer, you buy the expensive IronWolf Pro version in order to have the 5 years. This is priced in by Seagate and is fine.
But this way - I pay the full regular and customary market price and then after 2 years I am left without the warranty service. That's not possible.

I will buy my four hard drives for the NAS elsewhere at a similar price with the full manufacturer's warranty.

The hard discs come from various sources, in most cases the warranty must be handled directly by us.
