Good day Quick question from a beginner: Can these use 2 10 Gbit/s port as input and output? Example: Network cable comes from the router directly into port 1 and then goes via port 2 to the PC? Sorry for the probably stupid question, but I am effectively too inexperienced. Basically, like many before me, I just want to take full advantage of the current Salt offer.
That is so ... a sensible use is of course also the uplink vie 10GB.
Example: In room A you connect a server with 10GB to the switch, in room B your PC with the 10GB card to a second switch. You then connect the two switches via the still free 10GB ports and have a really fast connection from PC to server (or NAS) ...
Yes exactly. - I am also a Salt user :-)
However, the 10-bit output on your PC probably doesn't make much sense. Like most PCs, you probably have "only" a 1Gbit card in there. So don't be frustrated if you measure the performance there and don't get 10Bit... You can use the 10Bit "output", for example, if you want to connect another 10Bit switch later.
The advantage of this switch is that you get 10GBIT in and (theoretically) get the full 1Gbit at each 1GBIT output at the same time (up to 10 connections, which would bring you to 10Gbit in total).
