Has anyone tried connecting the thing to an old Smasung TV (2010) to connect it to the WLAN and then stream from the mobile to it?

I can't imagine that the TV's operating system integrates the stick as a network device and even accepts streams via wifi. In 2010, streaming was still an adventure.

At best, an external media player that you connect to a TV input (presumably analogue) and that can receive streams via the common protocols could do this. You can certainly find such devices for little money on second-hand platforms.
