Hello out there... I have just bought the record player from audio technica AT-LP120XBT-USB and I am wondering if these speakers fit/can I connect them... Or do I need other speakers? Which ones would I recommend (budget up to 300.-)
i don't think so as the speakers don't have a chinch connection, but only work via an amplifier with audio cable. in other words, you connect wires to them which then go to an av receiver and from there you can connect other devices. These speakers are made more for home cinema and not for stereo systems as they do not work without an amplifier.
Many thanks for the answers, especially the one from tbftnc :) the cables that came with the record player have a white and a red plug (cinch ?) and a 3rd cable with a u-shaped plate attached ... I can imagine what the two plugs are good for, but where do I connect the third cable with the u-shaped plate? Can you recommend a good and cheap amplifier tbftnc ? I looked around a bit and realised that they are more expensive than the record player (352.-)... best regards and have a nice sunday with lots of sound and good music :D
The Ultima 20 are passive speakers that need to be connected to an amplifier (with speaker cable). You can then connect your record player to this amplifier (with an RCA cable). The Ultima 20 can certainly be used as part of such a stereo system (I disagree with mortagius here); they are very good in terms of sound and price/performance. (Ideally, however, they should be placed on speaker stands or otherwise at a suitable height on a shelf).
You can only connect the record player directly to active speakers that have a line input (cinch). Some such speakers (such as the Edifier Studio R1700BT 2.0) are easily within your budget. (The switch on the back of the turntable should then definitely be set to line).
However, if you have bought such a good turntable, I think a solution with an amplifier and passive speakers would be more appropriate.
