Question about Tamron AF 18-400mm f / 3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD, Canon EF-S

Hello Since yesterday I have the Tamron 18-400 connected to a Canon 6 D Mark II. When I look in the viewfinder I see a black ring outside the image. Do I need an adapter on the Canon or is this the wrong lens? Thanks for feedback

This does not fit together. An adapter does not solve the problem, only a return.
The lens is made for APS-C cameras. But your camera is a full-frame camera.
The sensor of APS-C cameras is smaller than that of full-frame cameras. Since the sensor is smaller, there are also adapted APS-C lenses that have correspondingly adapted, smaller lenses. This makes APS-C lenses lighter and cheaper than full-frame lenses.
Full-frame lenses fit APS-C cameras without any problems. But APS-C lenses only fit full-frame cameras with restrictions (black ring).

This is an APS-C lens and not suitable for full-frame cameras like the 6D. Yes, it is the wrong lens.
