Roline HDMI 4K2K Audio Extractor LPCM 7.1
hmmm...I have already tested the second device (exchange device) and only heard chattering at the MiniJack outputs! (Tested with PC and AppleTV via good, up-to-date HDMI cable on roline. Then via 20m HDMI cable to beamer. Picture ok, but sound from roline only chatter) According to the description, it should be possible to extract stereo or 5.1 or 7.1 from the Roline! Is it possible that it doesn't work because I only tried it with a StereoMiniJack on all outputs? Stereo would mean that I plug in at FL/FR, wouldn't it? (or do I also have to plug in a jack for the 2nd socket for the sub?)
From my point of view, the device works correctly, but I did not get the desired result with the device either. However, in my case it was probably because I did not need 5.1 or even 7.1 sound, but was hoping for a simple stereo output (i.e. 2.0 or 2.1). My explanation for the failure in my case is that the entire sound volume of 5.1/7.1 is distributed to all connected speakers and the entirety can only be heard again if all devices are really connected in the intended frequency range and spatially correctly positioned. This means that each of the sockets of the Roline unit does not contain the entire sound range, even the FL/FR socket, since "speech", for example, is always output via the "centre". After some tinkering, I therefore bought an alternative: the "Marmitek Connect AE24 UHD Audio Extractorder" (https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/marmitek-connect-ae24-uhd-audio-extractor-switch-box-7944666), because it mixes the entire sound range onto one stereo socket - this now works perfectly for my needs. Maybe this will help you too...
