Delock 90010 - PCIe x1> 4x SATA Low Profile - Serial ATA - SATA
How can a PCIe x1 controller supply up to 4 SATA devices? 4 x SSD (SATA3) = 2.4GBit/s, even with "mixed" operation with HDD (1/3 to 1/2 of an SSD) there are throughput volumes that - at least theoretically - a "x1" controller can hardly cope with: https://www.elektronik-kompendium.de/sites/com/0904051.htm, even if the PCIe V3 is mastered... Have I misunderstood something? In any case, I'll be replacing my "cheap controller" soon...
yes, absolutely correct. This adapter doesn't make much sense:
1 lane PCIe 3: 8 Gbits/s
4x SATA III: 4x 6Gb/s = 24 Gb/s
The controller has a massive lack of bandwidth on the PCIe side! Completely unsuitable for NAS etc.
According to the manufacturer, this card has 4x SATA 6Gbit/s connections and a PCI-E 3.0 x1 connection. This is fast enough with 8Gbit/s to either give one hard drive the full speed or all 4 hard drives 2Gbit/s each.
