I also had this problem when I first connected the keyboard. 
To solve the problem, I removed the keyboard again in the device manager. If it was entered at all. Then I disconnected the keyboard in the BT settings, which was there but did not work.
After the 2nd installation attempt according to the instructions, I then rebooted my notebook 2 more times. From this point on, the keyboard works perfectly.
About the LED: this LED never lights up in white (I think) without a cable connected, and in red when the battery is about to die. And with the cable plugged in, it lights up in white to indicate the charging process.
