How long recordings are possible with it? Can the recording medium (ext. hard disk) be connected directly to a laptop for playback?

It depends on how big the hard disk is and what recording quality is chosen. 30 - 45 minutes are possible on a TB hard drive.
I bought the GameCapture for my son, but I haven't tried the hard drive directly on the laptop.
