I am left-handed, can I turn the thing upside down without any problems so that the buttons are on the right? or are the commands on the display then also upside down?

You need to set the ExpressKey settings in the Wacom Center software so that they are on the right when the tablet is on the left of the keyboard. There are detailed instructions on the Wacom website on how to configure the tablet for left-handers. I use it as a right-handed person myself, but I see no reason why the tablet should not work just as well for a left-handed person.
