I bought XPlane 11 and got the DVDs. When I started the installation from the "X-Plane 11 Install" file on DVD 1, he asked me for the activation key. He told me that I had received the key by email, but I didn't have it.

Have you looked inside the cover? There is often a note or a code on the back of the manual.
