Yes, sure. This cable can transmit up to 10Gb/ per second.
Yes. The cat. refers to the shielding and frequency. So the more other cables / devices around the cable, the higher the cat. rating. For 500Mb/s you can also use a cheaper cat. 6 cable if you don't have a huge cable tangle.
