I would like to buy an eGPU for my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015). However, as I understand it, it only has Thunderbolt 2.0 ports and the eGPU requires Thunderbolt 3.0 ports. 1) Is it possible to connect the eGPU with an adapter anyway and if so, are there any major disadvantages due to the extra interface? 2) What is the difference between the Razer Core X Chroma and the Razer Core X eGPU? 3) Since I connect 2x 4K screens to my MacBook, the graphics performance is limited and I always have delays on the screen. Will an eGPU help me? Thanks in advance!

Hi,
1. the Razer Core is a TB3 device which also needs the power.
Even with an adapter from TB2 to TB3 (which I don't think exists).
Since the protocols are different, a "cable" is not enough here either, so I guess that won't work ;-)
2. in Chrome (LED's that are controllable) yes unbelievable but the price difference is a few LED's
3. yes in principle, but a Macbook with TB2 is already a few days old, maybe think about a new one with M1 process.
Besides the extra performance, it also has various other advantages in terms of battery etc.
