I would like to operate the product via a remote control that I can then attach to the wall and stays there - i.e. WITHOUT a smartphone app?

It's possible with the Philips remote control, which has to be bought separately, but it won't have any colour, only from cold white to warm white, I think, with 4 white options.

Then Philips Hue is the right choice for you. You will need the Hue Bridge and the app for configuration. You can then operate the Strips (and all other Hue lights) easily and conveniently using the Hue buttons.
