I have a MBP Mid17 15" on this monitor. The system setting "Monitor" does not mention the Hz. The "default for the monitor seems to be 1920x1080. I can choose from 5 scaled resolutions and Apple describes it as "looks like": 1920x1080, 2560x1440, 3008x1692, 3360x1890 and 3840x2160. I use 2560x1440. Otherwise the font is so small that I can't read it.

Yes, that should not be a problem. USB type C is best suited for this. A corresponding cable is included.
