Is it possible to connect the IdeaPad via USB (Type C) to a USB dock from Lenovo? (Ex: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/lenovo-usb-30-docking-hdmi-displayport-usb-20-usb-30-lanrj45-dockingstation-5646701)
Well, neither the notebook nor the dock seem to have a USB Type C plug? But it should work via USB 3.0 Type A. But a USB dock is still not a Thunderbolt dock and I have had bad experiences with USB docks and monitors. In contrast to Thunderbolt, the "intelligence" of USB, e.g. the network adapter, the graphics card, etc., is outsourced to the dock, as USB does not transmit video or audio signals.
Theoretically, a USB dock works on all Windows devices with the corresponding connection. The best way to find out whether a dock you have chosen has been tested with the specific notebook is to visit the website of the manufacturer of the docking station.
