Question about Icy Box External enclosure for 1x HDD, IB-377U3
My existing hard drive no longer shows up on the computer. So I wanted to buy an external enclosure and try it that way. I hope I don't have to format anything? Otherwise it would be pretty pointless.

Yes, you do not need to format. Install and connect.
With Windows, the ACL may deny you access to your data. In this case, the easiest way is to run cmd as admin and save the data with xcopy.
Check the SMART parameters of the disc, the disc may have exceeded an error counter. In this case, depending on the manufacturer, a special tool may be necessary for recovery.
