Question about Seagate Backup Plus Slim
My notebook has USB 2.0 ports. Can I use this hard drive? USB 3.0 is supposedly not backwards compatible but the factsheet says under "System Requirements": SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port (required for USB 3.0 transfer speeds or backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports at USB 2.0 transfer speeds). Can I use the hard drive with USB 2.0 or not?
USB is backwards compatible. And anyone who told you otherwise should inform themselves better.
The only disadvantage you will have is that you will not reach USB 3.0 speeds. As it says in the Segate factsheet.
