Sonos Play:5
Airplay 2, Wi-Fi
Three questions: 1. if my Wi-Fi network stops working, can I play the music via AUX? Or does the Play 5 have to be online all the time to work at all? Is the installation and registration via the app a one-time thing? Can I ONLY need the AUX connection afterwards? If e.g. friends want to connect, I would like to give them an AUX cable and not say "you have to download the app". 3) About Trueplay: I don't have an iPhone, but of course I know people who do. Can you set it up once with a friend's iPhone, or does Trueplay only work if you operate the Play 5 with the app on the device you set it up with? Thank you very much!
No, you don't necessarily need Wi-Fi. The Play does not have to be online all the time. Setting it up once is enough. After that, you can play via AUX.
2) Yes, it is a one-time thing. But remember, the thing has no other control buttons or anything. If you want to increase the volume, for example, you still have to use the app, depending on the amplifier. But you can do that via your app.
3 I can't say anything about it. I have Android. But it is supposed to work. Set it up once and it's good. But I've never tried it myself.
Regarding Trueplay, I can say that setting it up once is enough. If you place the player again, it would be an advantage if you could set it up again using Trueplay.
The Play 5 has volume buttons on the device itself. You can turn them up and down. Of course, it also works via the app.
