Swiss Post recommends that to protect sensitive contents, which includes all electronic items and especially hard drives, there should be at least 3cm of padding between the outer packaging and the product packaging, so that the product packaging cannot move. Unfortunately, nowadays the product packaging is simply placed in a box, possibly with a few air cushions, which is insufficient. Electronic products and their circuit boards are sensitive to high accelerations, as these can lead to fine cracks, which may only lead to a failure later on, i.e. to a warranty claim or complete failure. This really doesn't have to be the case, and Digitec could easily set itself apart from the competition with smart packaging.
