What is the overall height of the unit when the upper part is folded up? (I.e. how much space does it take upwards where I put it?).

When unfolded, it is 56 cm high. And it also needs a little more space behind the machine to open it up. If you also have the multi chopper, the blender attachment or other accessories that can be placed on top of the machine, it makes sense to have more space at the top.
