Why is the unit ideal for use in larger NAS systems with up to 8 hard disks, what does that mean if I have a 10 disk NAS? Thanks for any relevant input!
Because Seagate wants people to buy the IronWolf Pro (up to 0-24 disks) if they have more than 8 disks. For me, this is purely a marketing figure.
180 TB/year versus 300 TB/year is a better figure.

The HD is built for 7/24, or was assigned to this category in the quality check at Seagate.
The HD is suitable for RAID environments. The production of the WD red has been adjusted.
WD now manufactures some models differently than before with the Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) technology, which can lead to problems during RAID rebuilds.
This Seagate HD fulfils the SMR requirement necessary for RAID.
Whether 8 or 10 units are installed should be secondary.
