will these ram work fine when installed in the iMac in addition to the existing 2x8 GB? best thanks
I have installed the same bars 4 times. Different brands can work. But it is more advisable to always use the same bars.
how is it with the default 2x4GB...can i then use an additional 2x8GB or do all 4 have to have the same capacity?

Ditto for me. I ordered it with the minimum 8GB (2x 4GB), then installed 4x 8GB and have been very satisfied ever since. There is nothing else to add to Hcabnessod's comment.
