I also had the problem with the microphone at the beginning. I took it in for repair and got a new one. Now it works fine so far. I think that the microphone has a loose contact when it is connected, until I noticed that I can turn the microphone so that there is no (loose contact). But even then, I have occasional dropouts with the PS4 and for the high price, something like that shouldn't happen. I wouldn't buy it a second time or recommend it to anyone.
