Paris in a state of emergency: Grand celebrations are planned at the Eiffel Tower, the proud symbol of Paris. Dupin and Poe are plagued by a nagging feeling that their adversaries have set their sights on this very target. They must investigate on their own, against the interests of the city officials and the intelligence service. An initial chilling warning goes unheeded. The preparations for the festivities continue unabated. Poe and Dupin have only a few days left if they want to prevent the impending disaster.
