No, the scanner cannot be opened. It is a swipe scanner and therefore not suitable for scanning drawings. It is too small for A3.

Hello, yes I have been using it for 2 years with Microsoft, without any problems. You can use your own software or your previous scanner software. One battery charge with wifi is enough for about 100-120 double-sided copies, you can also scan with cable, the battery charges up.
I use the scanner with the Mac Book Air. It needs the Brother iPrint&Scan app and you have to connect to the scanner via the network. But it works perfectly.
Is there no OCR when scanning via the app? Possibly only when scanning via PC with special software?
No, unfortunately not. Additional software must be used for this.
