Does the pump switch off automatically or is there a built-in overpressure protection to prevent the thing from bursting? Can the hardness be adjusted?

You can let air in and out to vary the hardness. I have not tested whether the pump switches off on its own. The bed fills up quickly, so I'll stick with that
