Can several gateways be used at the same time? In my case, the reception from one transmitter seems to be weak (I partly have no data). The transmitter is in the basement, the receiver one floor up. My hope is to get a better/stable connection by adding a second receiver/gateway.

Using several gateways is no problem. You just have to make sure that the second gateway is also connected to the Internet.
